I don’t get why Zach bothered to shoot this at all, when the reason for the Black Freighter story being in Watchmen in the first place was because of the (SPOILERS!) squid. If it’s true that the squid isn’t in the movie, what use is the Black Freighter story except probably because “It’s COOL!”. And that is unfortunately indicative of the frame of mind that was used in the making this movie. From the trailers, the “coolness” factor was amped up to the nth degree, even for characters that are not fundamentally cool to begin with. Nite Owl is a case in point. I’m afraid that the movie, although visually faithful to the comic book, is not faithful in the more important and more fundamental aspects of what made Alan Moore’s story great.

I would love to be proven wrong when the movie comes out, though.
