Comics and cartoons

Rob Davies posts some useful and quite candidly practical tips for anyone trying to make a living from their art, ten suggestions to try and get paying work rather than the starving in the artistic garret approach, ranging from getting an agent who will get you a fee for pitching ideas (even if not finally used, you get paid for your time) to developing a ‘quick’ style so you can manage fast turnaround for publications which need artwork fast, like periodicals, working with other, more established names (such as inking a better known artist’s work), keeping in touch with what kids like so you have a better chance of drawing for them and more – well worth a look.  (via Neil Cameron’s Twitter)
