Tripwire Annual 2009

Joel Meadows tells us that there has been a bit of reshuffling on the Tripwire front; as we’ve mentioned here before they had several special themed issues planned this year, with an Adventure Special in the summer and a Science Fiction Special in the winter, but several of the features were proving to be rather timely and so they’ve decided to move them into the upcoming Tripwire Annual 2009 which is due towards the end of July, including “an exclusive interview with award-winning genre master Guillermo Del Toro discussing his new novel The Strain as well as a few tidbits on Hellboy 3 and upcoming movie projects. Additionally, the magazine has attained an in-depth first look at Moon, the eagerly-awaited low budget British sci-fi movie starring Sam Rockwell and directed by Duncan Jones.” Moon is one of the flicks I’ve got booked for myself at the Edinburgh Film Festival later this month (looking forward to it, heard some good things) and I believe is due for general release in the UK at some point in July, so it makes sense to move some of the features when they are so relevant.

Joel tells us that this doesn’t mean the end of the Specials though – there will still be an Adventure Special, towards the end of this year now, with a major emphasis on Robert Howard’s immortal Barbarian, Conan, with the Science Fiction Special moving to early 2010. Other plans for 2010 include further Specials, this time one on Fantasy and one on Crime; you can read Richard’s review of Tripwire’s excellent Superhero Special here.
