Visual Intifada: exhibition of Palestine cartoonist Naji Al Ali

Gianluca Costantini tells us that there is an exhibition of the cartoon art of Naji Al Ali, probably the most respected cartoonist of the Arabic world (and rightly so), which will run at the Galleria Mirada Libreria Interno 4, Via Mazzini 83, Ravenna, Italy until the 14th of February. The works exhibited include cartoons translated into Italian by Algerian writer Tahar Lamri, who is currently resident in Ravenna; reproductions of the work will be offered for sale, with proceeds going to hospitals run by Mustafa Barghouti - The Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees in Cisgiordania and Gaza Strip (where, judging by the awful news images it will be badly needed). There will be a debate on Palestine with Tahar Lamri, Alessandro Taddei, Elettra Stamboulis to follow; check the Visual Intifada site for more regular updates.

This picture evokes anger and pity in me. Anger for the Zionist control of America and Palestine and their unwanton massacre on the beautiful Palestinian people. I cry for the innocents and the defenders (Hamas) who must die to maintain just food for these poor people. A curse on America for their part in furthering this misery!
