I’d completely forgotten that one of the highlights of the French cinema calendar was last week (blame all the Oscar hoopla for distracting me) – the annual César Awards. Animated Israeli film Waltz With Bashir (one of my favourite movies of last year), which was pretty overlooked at the Oscars, was treated rather better in France, winning the Best Foreign Film award in the usual venue of the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
