I heard a news report today that a woman is claiming her wig saved her from certain death – Briana Bond was shot at in her car in Kansas City by her former boyfriend, with one bullet striking the back of her head but becoming entangled in the weave of her wig. “I invested a lot of money into this wig, and it saved my life,” she remarked. On hearing this on the radio I had a sudden flashback to an early episode of Darryl Cunningham‘s Super-Sam, where our hero is denuded of his mighty powers for a few moments while Jimmy Cyclops attempts to use his vulnerability to shoot Sam in the head. Except previous to this his rather smarter friend John-of-the-Night had bought Sam a present of a bullet-proof wig… You see, Darryl’s comics aren’t just great to read, they can save your life!!! Man, truly no matter what wacky story twist you come up with, the real world (if there is such a thing) always seems to go one step further…
