With the fifth and final season of Stargate Atlantis now finished, fans can be forgiven for looking around for something to fill that wormhole shaped space in their viewing (at least until the new Stargate Universe series, starring Robert Carlyle no less, airs). Season Five is coming to DVD soon to help fill that space, with the first volume due to be released on Monday 11th of May and the subsequent volumes throughout May and June, with the fifth volume hitting stores on July 6th.
Volume One of the fifth and final season of the popular, award-winning show follows Richard Woolsey (Robert Picardo, already popular with fans for his portrayal of the curmudgeonly holodoc in Voyager) as he commands the Atlantis team formerly led by Lt Col. John Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett), Teyla Emmagan (Rachel Luttrell), Ronon Dex (Jason Momoa) and Dr. Jennifer Keller (Firefly/Serenity’s Jewel Staite) on their final expedition to the mysterious and mystifying Pegasus galaxy where they face the fierce and formidable enemy, the Wraith.
The final season also boasts guest appearances from some of Stargate’s most popular characters, including the lovely Amanda Tapping (currently gracing our screens in Sanctuary) as Colonel Samantha Carter, Paul McGillion as Doctor Carson Beckett and the delightfully floppy fringe of Michael Shanks as Doctor Daniel Jackson (steady now, no swooning!).
Each volume will come with a suite of extras and audio commentaries, as well as including an exclusive decoder card in Volume 1 that will enable fans to uncover all the Atlantis glyph symbols that are on the inside of all of the Season 5 Volumes. Once the glyph symbols have been identified, fans can log onto www.dvdatlantis.com to access the Restricted Area. With each new Season 5 DVD release, the website will be updated with exclusive content, including unique downloads and chances to win excellent prizes.
