A bumper week for lists of the best this and the greatest that. We had Neil Gaiman’s Graveyard Book winning the coveted Newbery Prize earlier this week. And now we have more mentions for some great books:

The American Young Adult Library Services Association has announced a list of 2009 Great Graphic Novels for Teens. 53 of them in total, including Umbrella Academy, Life Sucks, Terry Moore’s Echo and many more. It’s pleasing to see that friend of the blog; Marc Ellerby & Jamie S Rich’s Love the Way You Love book gets on the list and both are very happy about it.
The full list is here.

Meanwhile the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award list was announced this week. The award is specifically for the author and illustrator of the most distinguished contribution to beginning reader books. And it’s pleasing to see that Toon Books (recently reviewed on the blog) made it onto the Honor list with Eleanor Davis’ Stinky (review here). It’s a well deserved award for the 25 year old Davis and marks her out as one to watch for the future.
