Bulldog Returns…. with Bulldog Clips

Comics and cartoons

Jason Cobley has been writing recently about his desire to do another Bulldog Adventure Magazine. This is a great idea. If you don’t know what BAM was, read this and this and then come back. He initially put the idea up on his blog and made a few enquiries of some artists and then it snowballed. Six possible stores became more, artists said yes, and now it looks like there may be a nice new Bulldog comic coming out towards the end of 2010:

“This is of course all contingent on my getting my act together well enough to get it printed properly, but Bulldog update as follows: will be print on demand, limited numbers available at comics events, then online. Possibly a variant digital version will be available for download. A quid from the cover price of each copy will go to the Draw The World Together charity. Those of you who know the murky world of self-published comics know how near-impossible it is to make any kind of profit, so I’m very grateful to those artists who have generously volunteered their services to help bring back Captain Winston Bulldog into print, some doing short strips, others doing pin-ups. Some are non-professional, some are semi-pro, some are fully fledged professionals – and all are involved because they are nice people!”

“The current (I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone!) line-up of artists in no particular order is as follows: Garen Ewing; John Blake; Declan Shalvey; Mike Collins; Andrew Wildman; PJ Holden; Mark Bickley; Jon Haward; Ant Mercer; Nick Raybould; Simon Perrins; Davey Candlish; Jim Croasdale; Graham Pearce; Kelvin Green; Neill Cameron; David Goodman; Mal Earl; Chris Askham; Mitzi; Andrew Cheverton; Tony Lawrence; Jim Cameron; Stephen Prestwood…and more to be confirmed!”

“I started off thinking I’d write 4 or 5 scripts and that’d be it, but as I write, 10 short scripts have been written and are with artists, and I have 6 more to do. So, we may miss the BICS deadline but fret not! It’ll be British, Big and Very Bulldog! Oh, and current working title in case you hadn’t realised by now, is BULLDOG CLIPS. It looks like it’ll be at least 60 pages and will probably be US sized and perfect bound.”

It’s great to have Bulldog back, more news as publication looms and no doubt a review will be with you at some point. In the meantime, head to Jason’s blog for more news and finally, have a look at a little of the artwork so far:
