Comics and cartoons

Bloghorn reports that the US Postal Service has a number of comics and cartoon themed postage stamps on the way this year, with Pulitzer-winning and World War Two veteran cartoonist Bill Mauldin being honoured with his own stamp come March, while in July there’s a whole set of stamps, Sunday Funnies, which will feature characters from various US strips, including Beetle Bailey, Archie, Dennis the Meance (the American one, of course, not the Beano’s long-loved character), Garfield and the immortal Calvin & Hobbes. And I can’t resist sharing the Calvin & Hobbes one on here to brighten up Monday morning, this should get us all smiling!:

Calvin’s offset teeth. I’d never seen that done before in newspaper strip. Watterson’s creations had an anatomy. What a brilliant cartoonist.
