The Fanboy Wife has a couple of large, er, issues, shall we say, with the cover of some comics and their unrealistic – and sometimes innacurate to the story contained within – depictions of female anatomy (not that males are exactly realistic in many of them either) on some comics covers, especially issue 3 of Blackest Night Tales of the Corps (see above). Many of us have discussed the less than feasible physiques on display in some comics, especially superhero titles, but its interesting that Fanboy Wife also picks up on how some covers bear little relation to the actual contents of the comic. You know given that many women’s magazines regularly display equally unlikely women’s body images but usually at the other end of the body shape spectrum from the comics, maybe there’s a post-grad thesis to be made on comparisons of both as projections of male and female wish fulfilment? You have a good point about women’s magazines. I can’t stand those either!

The funny thing is the indigo lantern behind the others doesn’t have any boobs at all, which is unusual. Maybe they were afraid to much boob in the back would mitigate the full boob-effect?
