It’s only four months to go until the premiere of Luc Besson’s eagerly awaited film, The Strange Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec (which we first mentioned around this time last year), starring Louise Bourgoin, Gilles Lellouche and Mathieu Amalric (best known to non Francophone audiences for playing the villain in the last Bond movie, Quantum of Solace); only now a first short teaser trailer has been released.
Previously, all we had to go on was the teaser poster, and a few quite nice stills (thanks, Slashfilm), and now a brief trailer. It may be a bit too Harry-Pottery to really suit the quite dark and sometimes even macabre atmopshere of Jacques Tardi’s original comics, but I quite like the combination of the stiff upper lip turn-of-the-century French bourgeouis and that one thing that doesn’t quite fit (I won’t spoil the surprise). Still no Adèle, but this may well be one of the few comics-based films that does know how to deliver.
As ever, Slashfilm is vigilantly scouring the interwebs for more clues. Head there for the more updates. Back in the comics side of it though Tardi announced the other year that he wanted to return to the series after a gap of some ten year.
