Influence map

Comics and cartoons

I really like this idea Adam Cadwell has picked up and ran with – an influence map of the artists who have influenced him over the years, all put together into a nice montage ‘influence map’ that is rather pleasing to the eye:

(arts influence map by and (c) Adam Cadwell, individual art (c) their creators)

Adam notes he got the idea after seeing the meme on John Allison’s blog, who in turn picked it up from Aaron Diaz’s Indistinguishable From Magic blog:

(John Allison’s influence map, (c) John, individual art again is (c) the respective creators)

And I see Rene Engström has one up too:

I’m sure there must be more comics folks out there doing their own influence map meme – if so do bung us a link to your one. Or maybe you haven’t done one but are now thinking oh yes, I fancy doing that – if so then let us know when you post it.

    It’s fun to do!

I couldn’t resist doing one of these myself – http://tinyurl.com/3ybjvrz (or click the website link above, if you’re averse to Tinyurls). It’s quite a discipline to list all of your favourites, giving prominence to the stronger influences, but without missing anyone out. I should have included Mignola, I now notice!

I saw this on Twitter earlier and couldn’t resist having a go myself – http://bit.ly/cOGvUH

    I’ve done one.

Wow, this is fairly spreading around, isn’t it? Seen more appearing on Twitter with an #influencemap hashtag, so more folks are picking it up.

Mine turned out much more hippy than expected!
