There’s a lovely profile/interview on The Guardian website with Posy Simmonds just as Tamara Drewe is released in UK cinemas. She talks of many things, and it’s well worth reading. Best of all, she confirms that the next project is underway:
“I like the fact that it has a life on the page and people respond to it. It’s a live creature hatching out. Things can come to you because you’re in a sort of panic. It’s like rubbing two sticks together and you get a spark. But the new thing is supposed to be under wraps. Very much pre-production, but I don’t suppose I’m giving too much away if I say that I have been researching pole-dancing.”
Tamara Drewe is out in UK cinemas on 10th September. Trailers below, but a heartfelt plea to all – if you haven’t yet read the Tamara Drewe graphic novel, please, please do. You’ll certainly not regret it.
