Queen Mum Adventures Volume 2: The Green Lady Mystery

by David O’Connell

Self Published

Well, it’s only 5 minutes of reading, but by god, it’s 5 minutes great reading. A second outing for the dear old Queen Mum, in another little A6 sized mini comic following her first adventure in “Mine’s A Gin And Tonic“.

It’s one of those little books that doesn’t say much, but what it does manage is to put a huge smile on your face, right from the cover. This time round the dear old Queen Mum is off for a little R&R (and G&T) in the Highlands, pitching up in the wind and the rain to The Castle Of Mey:

(O’Connell makes another attempt to get the police knocking on his door in Queen Mum Adventures Volume 2)

But like she says on the very first page; this one’s a little scary and concerns “The Green Lady”, the ghost of the daughter of the Earl of Caithness, locked in the attic and who threw herself from the window in despair. Cue Scooby Doo level hi-jinks featuring the return of Corgantua, the mutant cyborg Corgi and Sergeant McFist, the Scots Guardsman last seen in a fetish bar in Soho. And the mystery introduces the Royal Sister-In-Law and “arch-nemesis” Princess Alice, dowager duchess of Gloucester.

(Scary Sclooby-Doo style ghostly goings on in Queen Mum Adventures Volume 2 by David O’Connell)

You know, O’Connell’s really going to get himself thrown in the tower for these one day. Probably just after he gets a “ban this filth about our wonderful Queen Mum” headline in the Daily Mail. But until that happens, I implore you, send off for these little nuggets of pure comic fun. Pick it up from David O’onnell’s website (£3.50 for this and the first one – “Mine’s A Gin And Tonic”). I can’t wait to see what treachery he conjures up next.
