Now this looks like fun -- a Star Trek themed cosplay event in London, a record attempt taking place as part of the launch celebrations for the eagerly anticipated new Star Trek Online game (which does have my pointy ears twitching with interest), although the speech seems to be a bit out of synch with the video on this one when I watched:
According to Electronic Theatre the record attempt was successful and the Guinness World Record people authenticated it, with 99 fans in character costume, which sounds great, although I can’t help but wonder if more fans have been present in Trek costume at big conventions before surely? Although of course those didn’t have the official Guinness folks to do the count -- I wonder how long until some other group of fans goes for a new record? (via Gay SciFi Nerds)

99? Really? I feel like this is not impressive enough to be in Guiness.
