You might remember back in the autumn Rod McKie of this parish put me on to some lovely artwork Betsy Streeter had been developing for her Lost Queen graphic novel – there was some terrific art to admire on Betsy’s Flickr already. Obviously fine though Flickr is for single images its not designed for reading a sequential graphic tale (or comics as we normally call ‘em round these parts) and Besty has addressed the growing interest the art kindled in a lot of folks by rather generously putting together the whole first chapter of The Lost Queen into a free, easy to read PDF version, which you can nab from the Lost Queen blog, where Besty will also post about the making of the graphic novel, add PDFs of new chapters as it goes along and, hopefully the whole thing will generate interest in an eventual printed version, so do please go over, check it out and give her some support – I think it looks enchanting and I like the way the accompanying text appears white on black as you go down the pages, adds to the atmosphere, a bit like Jackanory crossed with a kid’s picture book, which I found appealing.
