Comics and cartoons

tihkalcat has an interesting short piece on graphic novels, produced as a video essay for a media theory class, concentrating on women in the comics medium and especially on the autobiographical approach. I’m not sure I agree with it all and the fact that graphic novels can create enlightenment and knowledge on a subject as well as simple entertainment seems to be new to her, but perhaps she’s not been reading in the medium for long enough to know that isn’t a new development. Still interesting though and there’s a decent range of very good female creators used as examples throughout.
