Art For Art’s Sake

Pictures and the Internet. They go together so well. And here are some lovely pictures about comics from this week (or at least that’s when I got around to seeing them!).

Darryl Cunningham’s Three Avengers:

John Allison reveals a secret past as the next big thing at Marvel in the 90s. Sadly it didn’t work out, but he’s good enough to share this gem. Is it just me, or is there a lot of not too subtle auditioning going on for Marvel’s Strange Tales III?

Natalie Nourigat presents Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle doing the Sunday morning fashion disaster shopping trip. Or, as those naughty Robot 6 people speculate, is it merely some derivation of the morning after walk of shame? (Via Robot 6):

Bill Watterson’s first public piece of art in 16 years since finishing Calvin & Hobbes; a piece for the Team Cul De Sac fundraising project. It’s the character Petey from Richard Thompson’s Cul De Sac comic strip. Thompson was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2009. (Via Drawn)

The glorious Maurice Vellekoop: “Here is a recent piece for “Toronto” magazine, a publication of Tourism Toronto. The brief was to create a full page illustration celebrating the various types of shows one can enjoy in and around the city, (i.e. musicals, comedy, fringe) each being represented by a character. Thanks, Bob Hambly, for a fun job!

Why I Draw” by Grant Snyder. Via Drawn:

From Johnny Wildcat’s Happenstance Tumblr:

And for another side of Bruce Wayne…. Brazillian Waldy Sombra – “So Bruce really is a melted heart after all.”:

And finally, not art, but aren’t these just the loveliest? Aberdeen Etsy-er Randomly Generated has this set of 11 Doctor Who regenerations peg people for $100. And now I’ve seen these I can’t help thinking I’d really love to see a PlayMobil Doctor Who collection. (Via Blog@Newsarama)
