Jim Medway’s second edition of Comical Animal, his collaborative blog-mag, is out now. And, just like before, it’s rather full of a host of really lovely strips, cartoons and art from a long list of artists.
It’s turning into a regular treat and this time round there’s even the added extra of a X-Factor style “Animal Factor” talent contest, with some very familiar judges:
Concept and judges by Ed Syder, presenters by Jim Medway. Smack My Bitch Up performed by Fred Blunt. To see what they think of it – go visit Comical Animal!
Further on, both Rob Jackson and Lizz Lunney give their own takes on the”merry verses from the 1950 Bobby Bear’s Annual, without being shown the original accompanying image”.
The May Queen by Lizz Lunney (and Madeline Collier)
FPI Blog fvourite Laura Howell pops up with a delightful dancing Gerbil – see the blog for more….
Rick Eades’ Chutney Raabbit is gorgeously simple and funny… again, more on Comical Animal.
My favourite, although it’s very, very close, has to be Fred Blunt again. The Conversation – Lovely stuff, horribly cropped here to avoid showing you the whole thing….
But Molly’s favourite, absolutely, without question, has to be this:
Gorgeous rats by Jim Medway, just like hers she say. And they’re part of the Comical Animal adoption scheme. Should you want to get involved and adopt, just like Leeds Postcards, Blank Slate Books and Good Grief did, or if you want to adopt on behalf of someone else – get in touch.
Jim emailed with details a week back:
“If you enjoy it, please forward our link to other like-minded humans, or get in touch. Comical Animal is planning a range of desirable merchandise, and, in the future sometime, real printed comics, but until then you can support our funny animal research and development in a number of ways:
ADOPT AN ANIMAL – just like in a proper zoo
VISIT OUR SPONSORS – corporate adopters want your clicks
DONATE – using our Paypal linkEvery two months, our team of creators are scratching away into the night, working to bring you all the funniest animals, bestest cartoonists and smartest writers. Until the third issue, due 1st April 2011, spread the word.”
So go on, spread that word. Well worth it.
