Happening Next Weekend – Caption 2011

The UK’s longest running comic convention is happening again next weekend. This year’s Caption, based on the very aposite Austerity theme, will open it’s doors on Saturday and promises two days of comics panels and workshops celebrating the world of comics.

There’s a provisional schedule up at the Caption website, highlights of which include; Paul Gravett, Paul Grist and INJ Culbard interview sessions; Jeremy Day running a reuse/recycle comics workshop; Tony Hitchman’s Reduced Heroes Quiz; Al Davison’s Less Is More art workshop; Paul Rainey, Rob Wells, Rol Hirst and Steve Miller discussing “Comics On The Ration”; and a Paul Duffield versus Kate Brown event moderated by Alex Fitch (marriage and comics and healthy debate – oh dear, expect trouble).

As usual, there will be the annual Caption Art Auction and the whole thing finishes off with the Mega-Panel - Alternative Methods of Funding & Printing with Kate Brown, Paul Duffield, Andy Luke, Deirdre Ruane, Charles Cutting, Paul Grist & Matt Dyson.

Pop along, the weather looks fine this weekend, Oxford’s a lovely city and Caption is perhaps the friendliest and informal comic conventions you’ll ever visit, what more could you want?
