Again, Kenny Penman’s Facebook gives us pics and details of a new book they’re planning for August/September from Laurie J. Proud:
“Here are, not great, scans of the front and back covers for Laurie J Proud’s book of short story comics. I think this book is going to make quite an impact – although no-one really knows Laurie he had his only other publicly available comic published 15 years ago in the short lived mag Alice. In the intervening years he’s been storyboarding, illustrating, animating and directing commercials but always producing his comics in private. These are unnerving and beautifully composed stories showing a distillation of all those years of experience…… A fantastic book.”

Have to say looking at the sample pages on Laurie’s website this looks right up my street. It obviously reminds me of Al Columbia’s work a bit, but there is nothing wrong with that in my book. (Especially as Columbia seems to have given up comics)
