We do like a good cuppa, that’s what other nations say about the Brits, and actually as national stereotyping goes it is fairly accurate, we do indeed like a good brew (and preferably a biccy to dunk as well, please) and it is an almost universal British response to almost any situation, be it welcome visitors or sudden crisis and trauma, on goes the kettle. A J Poyiadgi has kindly shared his short-listed entry for the recent Graphic Short Story Prize, Teapot Therapy, a rather lovely, bittersweet tale on the warming ritual of the shared cuppa and the loneliness of old age. AJ tells us that the backgrounds were actually made by stongly-brewed English breakfast tea! it is a lovely, moving short work (and a nice example of good short storytelling, nice and self contained), go and have a look:

How do they choose a winner when the quality of entries is so high across the board?

Yep, my thoughts exactly, what a lovely piece of work – some of the others are excelletn as well, very hard to make a choice as a judge, I’d think. Encouraging to see the high standards though.
