Much bribery and coercion needed to get this quick report from Molly – she’s far, far too busy these days!
But here you go…. short and sweet:
This year Thought Bubble started on the 19th November and was on for two days, in two different halls. My dad and I were planning on going just on the Saturday, but I pleaded and pleaded with him all day…… so we came the next day too!
During the first day I didn’t buy much, because I was busy getting “my dad’s”’ Nelson book signed. I say “my dads” but really, I think it should be mine. I’m the one who ran around the hall finding people who were part of it after all! By the end of the convention I managed to get 28 artists out of the total 54! Which I thought was pretty good. And it did mean I got to meet a lot of very nice people doing it. I even got some sketches….

(Sean Azzopardi, Roger Langridge)

Adam Cadwell did a lego figure trail (I didn’t find many on the first day!) but ended up getting the lot (with a little help – don’t tell Adam!) and won copies of Adam’s comic The Everyday, Paper Science and badges – thanks Adam!
Hall number 2 – The Armouries Hall was very much a kids hall, with Sarah Mcintyre, Cinebook, the Etherington Brother and many more, so first we met the Etherington Brothers (Bob and Lorenzo) and Lorenzo drew a sketch for me (Baggage and 2 characters from Monkey Nuts):

After that I went to say hi to Sarah and I ended up making a pirate and drawing a picture of Morris ( The Mankiest Monster) chasing Sarah (his creator)! [Ed (Daddy) - that pic above and with Molly holding it at Sarah's Tumblr.]
I spent a lot of time in the Armouries on the second day (after finishing the Lego trail and grabbing the last few Nelson signatures I could) because I’d volunteered to be Sarah McIntyre’s assistant for the afternoon. I was there to help keep the tables tidy and make sure everyone had enough things to draw with. It was really fun actually having a job, and it was weird to be on the opposite side of the table. I had a great time even if we did have some malfunctions (that silly coffee cup!)
I had a great time at thought bubble this year, especially working for Sarah (I even got paid!) [Ed again - legalise requires me to point out that Molly was a volunteer on Ms McIntyre's stall, who would never employ a minor, no matter how nice they are, and any payment in Molly's mind is actually better described as a gift for being so nice and helpful. Okay Sarah? Reckon that's you kept out the courts for that one.]
I had quite a haul at the end of Thought Bubble; thanks very much to Sarah McInture for the copy of her China travel comic “Please be moral, do not spit” [Ed again... read it here, Sarah's thoughts on putting it all together here], Anna at the Top Shelf for the deal on Korgi, Adam for the Lego quest, Marc for the Chloe Noonan T-shirt, Kayla for Galavant (love it!) and everyone else I met, including everyone who kindly signed MY copy of Nelson (Dad even says I can read it all if I don’t repeat the swears to mom).
See – I doesn’t say Richard inside does it? N0 it doesn’t Dad, Woodrow Phoenix signed it to ME! Yep, MINE! MINE! MINE!
I had a great weekend, thanks to EVERYONE! Thought Bubble is the only comic convention I go to and it’s the best!
