Art For Art’s Sake

Art. Comics. Seriously, you don’t know how this works yet?

Rufus Dayglo – Solid Gold Death Mask T-shirt – cracking…

WJC commission… now that is a supergroup! WW, Batgirl, April from TMNT, Pocahontas and  Velma!

Paul Pope draws Nick Cave…. (Via Lulu)

Now, is that better, worse, or just differently brilliant when compared to Krent Able’s version?

Josie of Josie and the Pussycats by Sara Pichelli (Comic Art Appreciation)

George Kambadais – Avengers

Francis Manapul – Will Eisner’s Spirit in the rain….

Bob Layton- Iron Man commission homaging Fantastic Four #249 (Via I Love Comic Covers)

Darwyn Cooke – Zatanna

Amanda Conner – She-Hulk (Via Keane On Comics)

Catwoman – Mignola (Comic Blah)

Brett Weldele (Lulu)

Ric Estrada – cover to Falling In Love, May ’68. From Silver Age Comics, who have lots of great art from the issue.

….. and we shall leave you with this one, that made me smile so much post Christmas…. whether you agree with the positioning or not, whichever side of the Moore/Morrison dividing line you sit… it’s still funny…. Il Bar de Fumetto’s photo via FB. Of course, the sensible way to think about this provided you’re not attached to either camp, is that writers, much like musicians, tend to be magpie-like in their ways, and it’s the final quality and originality of the work that really counts. That one writer is influenced by or has used another writer’s ideas as an ideas trigger point is just the way it is. My position tends to be one of enjoying both gentlemen’s work, accepting the flaws and faults of both.
