Now, my definition of best cover EVER changes on a near daily basis, as does my favourite book, band, album, comic, artist, writer, etc etc. I know some people have a definitive, absolute, number one this or that for life. But I can’t. And personally I prefer it that way.
It also means that every so often, hell, maybe even every week if I remember, I can do a Best Cover EVER post here. If nothing else I get to share some gorgeous artwork with you.
So here we go….. is this THE BEST COMIC COVER EVER? (Discuss)

Love & Rockets Issue 24, Fantagraphics Books 1987 – Cover art by Jaime Hernandez.
Best Cover Ever? – Part 1 (Chosen by Richard)
Really, what more do you need? So many things make this the best comic cover: The absolute iconic image. The raw power. Jaime’s incredible use of black in his art. The faces of the crowd. The stagediver (in heels) who’s just left the stage. But most of all, it’s the best comic cover ever because I swear that I’ve never looked at this cover and NOT heard the music they’re playing. It is simply a stunning cover, all the more powerful here because of the single colour.
And now, lucky, lucky people. It’s not only a beautiful cover image, it’s a beautiful T-Shirt image:
