The British Library in London is holding a special 75th anniversary event on September 21st to celebrate the anniversary of the original 1937 publication (on that same day, as it happens) of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit. The event will include readings,, discussions and the guests will include Adam Roberts (absolutely one of our smartest science fiction writers), writer, broadcaster and biographer of Peter Jackson Brian Sibley (you may also remember Brian for adapting the cracking full-cast BBC radio adaptation of Lord of the Rings) and writer, publisher and Tolkien expert Jane Johnson. Years back, to mark the first LOTR movie release I hosted an event with Brian and Jane and it was a brilliant night celebrating the work of our most iconic fantasy writer, so I’d highly recommend going to this one if you are in town.
