Broken Frontier carries some bad news for the many fans who have been following events surrounding much loved artist Brett Ewins since he was involved in an altercation with police a few weeks ago. Brett has unfortunately been suffering mental health issues and it seems that this played a part in the incident, which left one officer slightly injured but Brett quite seriously injured during the arrest.
On recovering a bit from his physical injuries his brother reported that the artist seemed confused as to his whereabouts, having no memory of what had happened to bring him to hospital. He has been remanded in custody with a preliminary hearing scheduled for tomorrow. I’m hoping that the mental health issues Brett has been struggling with will be taken into account in court, I think a lot of us are of the opinion that he requires help and not incarceration. To Brett and his family, we’ve been hearing from a whole lot of writers and artists in the UK who are thinking of you and we’re all hoping for the best for you. (via John Freeman)
