Calvin and Hobbes by Dan Berry

James Howard runs The Mooks tumblr, and every now and then, sets a drawing topic challenge, which then gets picked up on Twitter, with contributing artists posting their efforts. The November challenge topic was to draw various interpretations of Bill Watterson’s immortal Calvin and Hobbes, and such a tempting subject (or subjects!)  proved impossible to resist, with many Uk comic artists taking part. The quality of the submissions was ridiculously high, and I absolutely love Calvin and Hobbes, so I thought I’d share some of my favourites here:

By Diyar M

By Rob Johnson

By Jamie Smart

By Charles Santoso

And this one by Tim Harries will resonate with anyone who owns the hardback versions of the Complete Calvin and Hobbes: beautiful, over-sized books that are heavy enough to pin a grown adult down. If you have a minute, head over to the Mooks tumblr to check out all the entries: it was very, very difficult to pick out just a few.
