Film, TV and radio

Prospect is an interesting-sounding Indy science fiction film that Zeek Earl, Chris Caldwell and Brice Budke are hoping to raise some funds for via their Kickstarter. Following a young girl and her father prospecting on an alien world for a valuable resin secreted by insects their the guys have opted to forego the increasing use CG in favour of a more traditional, hands-on approach which they believe will give the film a more ‘textured’ look (I must admit I agree with that line of reasoning – there has been some amazing use of CG but it’s good not to become overly reliant on it for almost everything). I was thinking there was a bit of a wild frontier, Western kind of vibe to their short promotional segment here, then reading further on their Kickstarter page I see that they actually cite the likes of Sergio Leone as an influence as well as the more obvious science fictional inspirations. Always good to see someone doing something interesting and innovative in the genre, give them some love if you can and also pass around the link.
