Planning. Planning is great. Planning this far in advance is a sure sign of people who really seem to know what they’re doing.
Leeds Thought Bubble gets bigger every year, yet still hasn’t lost that sense of being a great convention. Although sadly, since I just don’t get out much, it was my only con of 2012 (Report here). But it’s a particular highlight of the con circuit, and seen by many as the end of the con year, and now it’s bigger than ever, with 8 days of comic events concluding in a 2-day convention across 2 halls.
Well, plans for 2012 are well advanced now, and there’s already an impressive guest list forming. Here’s the international guests thus far:
Jason Aaron, Mark Waid & Paulo Rivera, Kate Beaton, Alison Bechdel, Skottie Young, Ivan Brandon, Phil Noto, Yanick Paquette, Emma Rios, Dave Johnson, Nick Spencer, Becky Cloonan. That’s a great, great list, packed with variety. And no doubt going to get bigger and bigger as the even gets closer.
2012 sees the return of Thought Bubble’s Northern Sequential Arts Competition, where artists are asked to submit single pages for judging. Winners of the NSAC 2012 will see their work published in the Thought Bubble anthology the following year. And speaking of which, the Thought Bubble Anthology 2012 features the 6 winners of NSAC 2012, along with some great international writers and artists. And all distributed by Image Comics, with proceeds going to Barnardos. TB Anthology 2011 is featured here.
More information on events, guests, awards and more to come, with updates on the Thought Bubble website and blog. In the meantime, think about booking those tickets now.
