Gary Northfield‘s Gary’s Garden strips in The Phoenix Comic are usually masterclasses in comedy, surreal, stupidly brilliant things… like these:

See. Funny, clever, strangely off-kilter at times. Generally quite brilliant.
But there’s another side to Gary Northfield. And it’s a touch rude. Sometimes, as with the great Bad Dog newspaper it’s very rude. Still damn funny though.
So when editor Ben Sharpe left The Phoenix recently, and many of the artists at the Phoenix contributed to a one-off special edition organised by Dave Shelton, it was Gary who took us into the murky world of insect genitalia….
Or as Gary puts it….
“I did a comicstrip about one of my jolly characters from Gary’s Garden, Larry Ladybird, Lord of the Jungle…and um.. it was a little bit rude. Not massively offensive, but maybe not something you want to show to your 6 year old Phoenix fan. So look away now if you are slightly offended by little winkies…”
