Comics and cartoons

From Andrew Godfrey, author of The CF Diaries (review):

Sicker Than Thou Industries presents… An exhibition of drawings, sketches, and original pages by comic artist and writer Andrew Godfrey (one half of the comic collective Sicker Than Thou) exploring the lighter side of death, sickness, and disability.

The launch night will feature a 20 min talk by the artist on some of his favourite examples of ‘gallows humour’ in comedy, films, and comics with time for a Q+A afterwards.

There will also be a screening of Kirby Dick’s fantastic documentary ‘Sick: the life and death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist’: ‘If you see only one movie this year about a twisted, cuddly, courageous, fatally diseased, self-mutilating love slave, make sure that movie is Sick’ (Owen Glelberman)

There will also be a table selling comics by Sicker Than Thou and other Bristol based comic artists. Entry is £5 and any profits made on the door will be donated to The CF Trust.”

The exhibition launches on Friday 1st February at Bristol’s Cube venue and will be running in the bar space until March. Say hello on the event Facebook page, and feel free to spread the word.
