I finally got to meet the woman better known as Deadly Knitshade in person at last year’s Hi-Ex where she was busy knitting a cool Nessie. Well Lauren has not only got her first book out on knitting graffiti (Knit the City) she made this fabulous giant squid – Plarchie – entirely out of old Sainsburys carrier bags and here it is in all its glory in London’s wonderful Natural History Museum alongside that nice Mr Darwin. Brilliant.

There’s more on this bed linen/comics crossover on the blog of the quilter responsible, Ferret. That’s one of the more unusual and cooler comics inspired works I’ve seen recently! I wonder if Ferret would create a Mega City One cityscape quilt…

(Ferret’s interpretation of Stephen’s comics art through the medium of quilting; check her blog and look at the large version of this pic, the detail is superb)
