The Cynical C blog points us towards this set of classic adverts from the early days of personal computing with Tom Baker’s Doctor and Lalla Ward’s Romana selling us the latest in digital technology (hey, anyone remember the ‘paperless office’ promises of the early and mid 80s?). I’d completely forgotten about these, they were probably made around the time I was fiddling with my TI 99 4/a (ah, geek memories…), they are even funnier than the energy company ads William Shatner and Jimmy Doohan did several years ago. (via SF Signal’s Twitter)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJeu3LCo-6A

And since I mentioned the name of the Great Shat, here’s another vintage computer ad from around the same era with Bill extolling the virtues of the Vic 20:

And since there’s now a bit of a theme going, anyone remember Leonard Nimoy doing TV ads for Time computers a decade ago? Now vanished from high street stores like the Vic 20…

And going back to Doctor Who again, I completely forgot that Jon Pertwee appeared in Vodafone ads along with Kyle McLaughlin:

The things you can find on YouTube when you have a stinky cold at the weekend… Anyone recall any other science fiction stars being drafted in to sell us the latest tech?
