Our colleagues in our Dublin store (Facebook link) are running a special Christmas charity drive with a number of artists generously giving their time and talents to create their own designs for the hugely popular Munny figures, with the designs being raffled off to raise money for The Children’s Medical & Research Foundation, Dublin Simon Community and the Tempe Street Children’s University Hospital. It’s a lovely though, especially at this time of year when we’re supposed to try and think more of others, so Irish peeps, please give them some support and spread the word.

How cool are these fab little pieces of jewelry made from damaged, distressed old comics. Sue Smith sells these nifty items via her Etsy store Comic Salvage: “My husband is an illustrator and has been collecting comic books since he was a kid, so I’m surrounded by them. We love collecting anything vintage, especially toys and books from our childhood. We are often scouting out garage sales and flea markets for some good finds. I’ve always noticed the excessive amounts of distressed comic books that were out there. A lot of them are missing covers or ripped and not worth much. Well now we can. Well, okay, when I say we, I mean the kids can; I’m afraid us bigger kids simply won’t fit! But seriously, how brilliant is this, your own Dalek you can ride around inside? Five year old me would have gone berserk at the thought, I mean I thought my Tom Baker doll with the TARDIS where you spun the light on top to make him ‘dematerialise’ was the greatest thing ever… Available this coming summer in red and blue Dalek designs. Delighted child supplied seperately.

The former is quite wonderful, the latter an absolute abomination. The concept of a Peanuts Moleskine is lovely and somehow fitting. The idea of a Peanuts Converse is just stupid. Or is that just me?
