Okay, you may love the idea, you may hate the idea….

New Peanuts movie – Happiness Is A Warm Blanket, released March/April:

Now, I’m not entirely convinced by this. It has charm, but there’s a little something lacking, it’s just not quite there.

However, thanks to Wim, I got to see these animation tests that the makers have released. And the footage there does an awful lot more than the trailer to help me feel a little warm and fuzzy towards a new Peanuts movie in this post Schulz world.

And then, from Boom Studios new Kaboom line, we also have the Happiness Is A Warm Blanket graphic novel (more pages at Comic Alliance)

I’m not the religious type at all, but even I can go with the Peace and Goodwill toward Men. Especially when it involves Chuck and his very Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.

It’s that time again, where all over this Great Britain of ours, boys and girls who’ve grown up on the idea of US culture wander around housing estates with badly made costumes wondering why very few of those old people are too keen on the concept of trick or treating.

But enough cynicism, Happy Hallowe’en everyone. Spooky stories and horror movies tonight, and time this afternoon for the annual Charlie Brown classic “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown“.

And here’s a couple of very nice hallowe’en comic things I’ve seen around the place these last couple of days:

The former is quite wonderful, the latter an absolute abomination. The concept of a Peanuts Moleskine is lovely and somehow fitting. The idea of a Peanuts Converse is just stupid. Or is that just me?

We’ve featured the Covered blog a few times here on the website – the simple idea being to reinterpret comic covers. And like so many simple ideas, there’s an awful lot of mileage in it. I haven’t looked at the blog for a while, but Wim blogged about this cover by Valerie Fletcher that reworks The Complete Peanuts 1969-1970 rather brilliantly.

60 years ago today (2nd Oct 1950) saw the very first Peanuts newspaper strip published.

Sadly, Charles Schulz is no longer with us, but his creation lives on, immortality through print and responsible for entertaining generation after generation of readers. Happy anniversary Peanuts. You could always celebrate with one of the gorgeous Fantagraphics Complete Peanuts sets.
