Its Thursday and time for Alex Fitch to update us to some of the shows he’s involved with over the next week or so; as usual check the Panel Borders site for more details and links to podcasts of previous shows:

Strip!: Horrible Histories, this evening at 5pm on Resonance FM, podcast after transmission on Panel Borders

Starting children’s comics fortnight on Resonance FM, Alex Fitch talks to writer Terry Deary and cartoonist Martin Brown about their hugely successful range of children’s books, Horrible Histories, which have formed the inspiration for an exhibition that’s just opened at the Imperial War Museum, London.

Clear Spot: In search of the Atom Style, tonight at 8pm on Resonance FM, podcast afterwards on Panel Borders

Continuing children’s comics fortnight on Resonance FM, Alex Fitch talks to artists Woodrow Phoenix and Garen Ewing about their work and the influence of the Atom Style / ligne claire tradition on their comics, which was most famously exemplified in the art of Hergé’s Adventures of Tintin. Also (TBC), Alex talks to comics historian Paul Gravett about his exhibition on the movement which is currently showing at The Atomium in Brussels until 20th September.

Concluding children’s comics fortnight on Resonance FM, Alex Fitch talks to artists Henri Goldsmann and Richy K. Chandler about their work. Henri is the author of a new picture book – “Harold (a dog’s best friend)” – and has a successful career as a caricaturist, having dabbled in graphic novels such as “Secret Agent Spanky Sheep” on the side. Richy has produced ten terrific mini comics such as “Lucy the Octopus” and “Govinda the Meditating Rabbit” over the last couple of years which are now available in a cute bear shaped box set…
(This is the last in the current series of Strip! and the show will return in September)

Stargate Atlantis may have reached its conclusion, but while we wait impatiently for the new Stargate Universe to grace our screens (Robert Carlyle in Stargate!!) this month we can go back and revisit some old friends as the fifth and final season box set of Stargate Atlantis is released on August 10th. This final season sees Richard Woolsey (Voyager’s former holo-doc Robert Picardo) taking command of the SGA team in their exploration of the Pegasus Galaxy and the formidable Wraiths. David Hewlett’s Dr. Rodney McKay, Rachel Luttrell’s Teyla Emmagan, Jason Momoa’s Ronon Dex and Jewel ‘Firefly’ Staite’s Dr. Jennifer Keller are joined by some old SG faves making guest appearances, including the delectable Amanda Tapping (who we’ve also been enjoying in Sanctuary) and the man with the adorable floppy fringe, Michael Shanks.

(some of the cast from Stargate Atlantis’ fifth season)

We’ve got a terrific prize for one very lucky Stargate fan – yes, we have a whole season 5 box set waiting for one lucky winner, but oh, there’s more. We’ve got something money doesn’t buy – we’ve got one of the prop weapons from the series (how collectable is that?) and an SGA poster signed by the lovely Rachel ‘Teyla Emmagan’ Luttrell herself. Head on over to our website now and get your entry in before midnight on Sunday 23rd of August to be in with a chance of winning this fabulous Stargate Atlantis bonanza.
