			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kim at <a href="http://www.fantagraphics.com/index.php?option=com_myblog&amp;show=Genius-at-Work.html&amp;Itemid=113" target="_blank">Fantagraphics</a> posts up this short video of the great Jacques Tardi at work on the sequel to his powerful<a href="http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&amp;products_id=56869" target="_blank"> It Was the War of the Trenches</a> (an astonishing work, I read some of it in French, was very pleased when Fanta announced they were issuing an English language translation of it &#8211; see my review <a href="http://forbiddenplanet.co.uk/blog/2010/tardi-jaccuse-it-was-the-war-of-the-trenches/" target="_blank">here</a>). The sequel is entitled Putain de Guerre, which as Kim notes roughly translates so far as Fucking War &#8211; he may need to work on the English language title, although anyone who has read Tardi won&#8217;t doubt that&#8217;s what he thinks of war, especially the tragically ridiculous industrial-scale carnage of the trenches in the Great War, his sense of outrage and injustice at the events from 90 odd years ago strong and well articulated through his pens. <p>I love the British Isles reaction to the German attack through Belgium &#8220;you wanker&#8221; and the donning of the war moustache is a great touch (and indeed a great &#8216;tache). Angus also has a similarly (and again deceptively simply but actually bloody clever) strip condensing the history of the <a href="http://angusmcleod.deviantart.com/art/World-War-Two-Simple-Version-73625561" target="_blank">Second World War </a>as well &#8211; see below for a snip &#8211; so  go and check it out.
